What is Health ?

Health is a State of Complete Physical , Mental and Social Well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. 

What is Disease ?

When functioning of one or more organ or system of the body is adversely affected, Characterised by signs and symptoms, we can say we are not healthy.

Types of Disease

1. Congenital Disease = They are present by Birth. Example- Genetic Disorder.

2. Acquired Disease = They are acquired during lifetime.

These are of 2 Types

a. Communicable Disease = They are easily Communicable or Transferable from Person to Person. Example - Common Cold, Corona Virus.

b. Non - Communicable Disease = They are not Communicable or Transferable from Person to Person. Example - Cancer, Diabetes.

Note : Defficiency of Nutrition is one of the reason for Disease.

Nutritional Defficiency Disorder.


1. Defficiency of Vitamin A Cause Loss of vision.
 
Symptoms - Poor Vision, Loss of Vision in Darkness.

2. Defficiency of Vitamin B1 Cause Beri - Beri.

Symptoms - Weak muscles and very little energy to work.

3. Defficiency of Vitamin C Cause Scurvy.

Symptoms - Bleeding Gums.

3. Defficiency of Vitamin D Cause Rickets.

Symptoms - Bones are bent.

4. Defficiency of Calcium Cause Weak bone and Tooth Decay.

Symptoms - Weak bone and Tooth Decay.

5. Defficiency of Iodine Cause Goitre.

Symptoms - Gland in neck.

6. Defficiency of Iron Cause Anaemia.

Symptoms - Weakness.

What is Pathogen ?

Disease is Caused by Micro-organism (mean Pathogen) or Disease causing Micro-organism.

Example - Bacteria, Virus, Fungi, Protozoa.

What is Vector ?

They transmit/Spread the Disease.

Example - Insects, Mosquito.
